A @gadget_gurls production
the dollhouse
The dollhouse is a family home transformed—a site-specific sculpture, installation, curation, and pop-up show by artist collective, gadget_gurls. The concept behind the dollhouse emerged while considering the significance of ‘home’ and where it might converge with Art in a non-traditional environment. The name ‘dollhouse’ came from the confluence of our interest in play and (im)perfection.
Discourse surrounding macro versus micro, public versus private, technology, accessibility, and inclusivity in today’s Art world inspired our partnership with Pure Vision Arts, a specialized studio for artists with autism and other developmental challenges. The exhibition featured works of 50 artists, several of whom are represented by PVA. All art was on sale, enjoyed with an opening night of free transportation, performance art, and live music. 30% of all proceeds were donated to Pure Vision Arts. No gallery cut was taken.
This was our initial go at supporting and benefitting underrepresented and emerging artists using an alternative gallery model, which we’ll continue to pursue.
